Appliances: ovens and dishwashers that do not know what is inside
Why oven and dishwasher control relies on fixed programmes, and how models and computed states can make new functions work before the test rig.

New oven functions with climate, steam and sensing need a food state
What happens. Modern ovens add steam, humidity control and cameras or probes. A customer expects the roast to be done and the bread to be crisp. The oven, though, only knows cavity temperature and some humidity. What the food is doing inside is estimated by a rough programme.
What it costs. Programmes that overcook for safety, many test bakes with different food, and function ideas that never leave the lab because the control cannot hold them reliably.
Why the usual fix fails. More programmes for more dishes grow the menu and the test effort. A core probe tells only one point in one piece. A camera sees the surface, not the inside. Tuning on a few test dishes does not carry to the customer’s kitchen.
How a fixed-price remote diagnosis checks it. From your test-bake data (cavity and probe temperatures, humidity, power, camera or weight signals) I look at how well a model computes the state of the food, such as core temperature or browning. The fixed-price remote diagnosis tells you whether a computed food state can drive the new functions, and what test data it needs.

Control for dishwashers and virtual labs needs models, not more test runs
What happens. A dishwasher has to clean, dry and use little water and power, with loads that differ every time. Control algorithms are developed with many test runs on the rig. Test capacity is the bottleneck, so the team works on models for a virtual lab.
What it costs. Development time lost to rig queues, programmes that stay conservative for lack of test data, and models that nobody can trust because they were never matched to the rig.
Why the usual fix fails. More rigs cost money and space. A detailed physical model takes long to build and still misses the real behaviour of pumps, soil and heaters. Programme changes tested on only a few loads surprise in the field.
How a fixed-price remote diagnosis checks it. From rig recordings (temperatures, flows, pump and heater signals, turbidity or conductivity where measured) I look at how well a simple model reproduces what the machine does. The fixed-price remote diagnosis tells you whether model-based control can be developed in the virtual lab first, and which rig tests stay necessary.
